The theme for the 2013 PneuDrive Challenge is – Greener Mining. This allows a unique opportunity to create a project proposal that not only meets the project brief, but aligns itself with key points that can be related to the upcoming Unesco 2010 Engineering Reports’ Millennium Development Goals that need to be met by 2015.
The design put forward within this report is intended to facilitate the rehabilitation of abandoned mines by turning surplus ‘waste’ granite blocks into usable cobblestones that can in turn be used to develop access roads and walkways in rural areas. Apart from the direct benefit this will bring to these areas there are many multi-faceted aspects that will reduce poverty and help create a sustainable environment were further growth can flourish.
A report will explain our reasoning as to various design choices and why we chose specific options. A detailed estimation of costs has been included to allow prospective clients an idea as to the initial cost of the project.
There has been a website created to allow a central hub to view all the relevant project files.?
